It's hard to say why I enjoy Ocean's Grill so much, it's really just a neighborhood bar and it's not even in "my" neighborhood! Whatever it is, my wife and I seem to end up here at least twice a month. Maybe it's because the nightly (or daily) specials are reliably superior to most "bar food", perhaps because at least a couple of the waitresses know us by name, possibly even the fact that we really enjoy dining al fresco. Whatever it is you can pretty much rest assured that we'll be back soon for fish thats always fresh, burgers that take two hands to eat, and a vodka on the rocks thats the best pour in town.

Ocean's Grill which is located in one of South Florida's seemingly endless number of strip malls has a rather pleasant outdoor patio with umbrella covered tables and an interior eating area with small booths and full service bar which is somewhat divey and messy. However, inside you have a full view of the cook as he works his way through the kitchen clutter while preparing your food. The patrons are generally all older, make that elderly and retired people....definitely not a hang of the younger crowd..... that live in the nearby condos or apartments located along Galt Ocean Mile. The food, which borderlines between that of a dinner and of a restaurant however is really good with a nicely varied and wide ranging menu. My favs are their fried oysters, oyster Po'boy and for breakfast their menu "Amazing" or "Award Winner" which for me consists of hash (incidentally the best tasting hash I've ever had) topped by two poached eggs, some whole wheat toast and the included with the meal Bloody Mary drink. Though the interior kitchen and bar area are about as disorderly as things can get and the service somewhat slow, I find it pleasant enough, a friendly crowd and a place to have a rather decent meal.

I always have a pleasant experience when I visit here, which is typically for breakfast. I used to live on Galt Ocean Drive, so I would visit quite frequently. On my most recent visit, I connected with a friend who had never been here even though she has lived in the neighborhood for several years. It was a Sunday morning, and I was feeling quite hungry after a long jog on Fort Lauderdale beach. We sat outside in the roped-off cafe section, which overlooks A1A. The waitress was so sweet and kind and helpful. She explained our options, and I settled on an Omelette with onions, peppers (green and red) and cheddar cheese. It was terrific. Very tasty. It came with rye toast and potatoes. Afterward, we decided on some Bloodymary's, which were spicy. I had even made a request for some jalapeño's in mine. So good. Looking forward to returning for breakfast. I'm never disappointed.

After vacationing on the Galt for many years, I finally came across this hidden gem. On my first visit, I met a lovely server named Lynn who provided excellent service. I had a delicious light lunch of Caesar salad and blackened mahi. After Lynn told me that the patty melts are excellent, I went back in last night and tried one. It was absolutely delicious. It was cooked perfectly and came with super hot french fries. I had great service from Joyce and got to meet Joe, the owner, who was so warm and friendly that I felt like a regular after only two visits. I will definitely return soon.

At first sight you may not think this place has much to offer. Not a bash on its appearance, it's just a casual place and looks more like a bar than a restaurant. We met up with a friend unexpectedly last night and decided to grab a bite to eat. He lives on Gault Ocean Mile so this was an easy walk. We entered through the back which again can seem odd, but keep going. Most of the space is the bar area with seating and then a grill/kitchen area. There is booth seating along the wall with a couple of high-top tables up front near the open front to the patio area. It "snowbird season" so the place was already pretty full, but we managed to grab the last table inside since it was slightly cool out. There was ample outdoor seating and on a comfortable night that would have been a great place to sit. The inside is limited on seating so as we sat there more and more people were coming in trying to find seats because they didn't want to sit outside. So keep this in mind if you go here on a cool evening. Go early or later because at the dinner rush your seating options will be limited. Our waitress Patty came over and took our drink orders and brought them over. She was nice and took good care of us. On to the dinner order I decided on the NY strip which was on the specials menu. It comes with garlic and mushrooms but I opted to have that on the side. My steak was cooked perfectly and had that "char" flavor to it which I love. Along with the steak comes steak fries. THESE were awesome. Crispy on the outside, tender on the inside and they were huge. My friends both ordered the steak fajitas blackened. I gave it a try and I was pleasantly surprised the flavored was really there. It was a huge portion too. If you're looking for a casual meal with good food, give Oceans Grille a shot.

By far the best experience I've had in Fort Lauderdale, we we're here for 4 days and ate here twice, first time I had the Cuban sandwich which was awesome and then today I had the pork chop which was huge and amazing,!!! John the owner is by far the best park of this place, if ever back in Fort Lauderdale I will most definitely be coming back!

Not great. Eggs and corned beef are ok. Chipped sirloin is no more that a bunch of tasteless ground beef. No expresso coffee. Don't trust the patio pictures. Patio is overlooking a parking lot.

This was my first meal in Ft. Lauderdale, and sadly I was disappointed. I mean, the atmosphere was nice. I guess the owners were from New England as there was no shortage of Red Sox and Patriots stuff hanging up. The drinks were watered down. Nothing to write home about. Me and my friend started off with the Conch chowder. It was OK, but reminded me too much of Manhattan clam chowder. The conch was chewy. My friend had the fried Mahi sandwich which although was very fresh lacked any seasoning. Can we get little salt and pepper on the fish before it is breaded, please? It's not too much to ask and it would have enhanced the flavor of a very good piece of fish. I had the Shrimp and Scallop scampi over pasta which was also bland. The seafood was clearly boiled and placed over tastless spaghetti tossed in what tasted like food service liquid margarine. No amount of grated cheese could bring any flavor to this dish. A big disappointment. The service was friendly and prompt considering the servers and the chef were frequently taking cigarette breaks just outside and in full view of customers. There was, however, a nice garlic sauce at the table that a wanted to pour on everything. Still, it wasn't enough to overlook the fact that this chef clearly doesn't care about seasoning his dishes properly. Will not be returning. They'll be OK, though. In touristy area, there's a sucker born every minute.

This is a great breakfast, lunch, and casual dinner spot in an inconspicuous location: on the east side of A1A tucked away in a corner next to CVS. Open for years and too good to be one of those "here today, gone tomorrow" kinda spots, dine outdoors on the patio and enjoy the sea breeze and tranquility of this neighborhood bar and grill. The food is fresh - daily specials, corned beef hash, burgers, hot dogs, fresh seafood, pastas, and much more. I'm craving one of their Bloody Marys right now.

My restaurant reviews betray a fondness I have for places that don't look like much, maybe hard to find, maybe divey, maybe even scary, but that serve food that is unexpectedly terrific. This friendly spot is unique, but not easy to categorize. Obviously, my 5 stars tells you I like it quite a bit. Of course, it's not the same 5 stars that I would award to a Michelin starred gourmet restaurant, but it is a 5 star salute based on it being, in my opinion, a best in class of what it is. Oceans Grille, to my mind, is kind of a cross between a sports bar and a diner. But those designations don't really do it justice either. The sports bar part of it relates to the several TV screens (including one outside on OG's comfortable patio, and all set at an acceptably low volume level), and the ubiquitous chicken wings (among my top 5 ever), nachos (excellent cheese, though I would have liked a more generous topping of the tasty cheese), and of course, hamburgers (fresh formed and made to order from a list of about a dozen different configurations). But it's also a diner in that it serves terrific egg creations and an award winning, homemade corned beef hash. And everything the kitchen turns out is absolutely terrific. Reading from the huge and creative menu is like trying to figure out how the 20 clowns pile out of a Volkswagen Beetle at the circus. This terrific little restaurant turns out a huge number of items from its small open kitchen behind the bar, yet everything I've ever had the pleasure of tasting has been great. In fact, the center cut pork chop was the best I've ever had, anywhere, And I've tasted quite a few items, as I've never been shy about sharing with my dining companions. How in the heck do they continually produce such a profusion of delectable dishes with such a modest, behind the bar kitchen serving a relatively few tables? And all homemade on top of it. Part of how they keep up the high quality, for sure, is the hands on participation of the friendly and gregarious owners, Joe and Ray. I've had the pleasure of meeting them and talking to them, and I am telling you, they are men who take a huge amount of pride in what they have created here. I'm told by servers they typically spend 70 and more hours every week overseeing their pride and joy. I've also met Rodney and John, great and talented cooks who will prepare everything exactly to order. The entire serving staff, servers and bartenders, could be from central casting. Friendly would be an understatement. As in a real life Cheers. A locals hangout, but welcoming to visitors as well. I've gotten to know Rachel and her mom, Patty, Lynne, Danielle, Jamie, Tara, Summer, and on and on. Not a bad server to be had. Don't blink as you look for Oceans Grille along A1A, it is easy to miss. It's set well back from the street. But if you stay focused on finding it, you will be rewarded. For sure.

I've never eaten a hamburger like this. But it's not only the reason to give five stars. When I was in Oceans Grille, I felt in a real american way of life. This place make you feel so good that you can't imagine don't come back once at least. The atmosphere of the environment is the same that you can see in the movies, with waitress that seems are there for a long time and turned part of the patrimony. Definitely must go.

This is a report after two dismal visits: I ordered the chili and it came Luke warm. I sent it back to be re-heated. It came back at a proper temperature, but I wonder about a batch of chili sitting in the kitchen not hot enough to prevent problems. I feel OG has slipped in quality and service over the last few years. Made a return visit and it was NOT good. The cook, Rodney, is more concerned with socializing with the bar-flies than cooking. My medium-rare burger was well-done ... to the point it was re-done and was not charged. Inquire if Rodney is cooking before you place your order and adjust accordingly ... med-rare=raw!! Rare=on the hoof!! Beware!!!
